Our Surf Base located in Casais do Baleal, within walking distance or a short drive from all the waves in the peninsula of Peniche. Baleal is a small island 5 minutes drive from Peniche and 1 hour from Lisbon. There are regular buses coming from and to Peniche.

We are surrounded by beaches and waves. You will find bars and cafes on the beach, perfect to watch the sunset or party at night. There are also many types of restaurants, a market nearby, surf shops, bakery and everything necessary for your everyday needs.

For more specific needs such as banks and other public institutions you can go to Peniche.

Baleal, although a small town, you'll find a lot of action at night... Bars on the beach front are open all year around...

Areia Branca from Space

Peniche is located in the centre of Portugal (90 km north of Lisbon) perfect location to visit many places on an afternoon drive.

Lisbon (the capital) is just 45m away by motorway or you can drive down following the coastal road, visiting Santa Cruz, Ericeira, Sintra (historical city) all the way to Guincho (windsurf paradise), Cascais and into Lisbon. The north coast is also worth a visit. Places like Obidos, Nazare, Caldas da Rainha, Leiria or even up to Coimbra are within reach. The Peniche area is a peninsula (see map) thus allowing any swell or wind for perfect surfing conditions.

Electric current
220V, frequency 50 Hertz. Current sockets according to European standards. Blade plugs require a transformer for 220 volts and adapter plug. You come from the UK/USA don't forget to bring an adapter.

Tap water
Tap water is safe to drink throughout the country, but it is cheap to buy some of the delicious bottled water available.

At bus and taxi stops
There are always orderly lines at bus and taxi stops. Be certain to respect them.
