How's the weather like in Fuerteventura?

Like its neighbouring Canary Islands Fuerteventura has been called ‘the island of eternal spring’ because of the mild and pleasant weather throughout the year. Air temperature varies very little as the thermometer shows mid twenties during summer months and down to 16ºC in winter (60.8ºF). There is a distinction between the summer and winter months, but extreme temperatures are rare.

Average water temperature can reach 21ºC (69.8ºF) in the summer months, dropping down to 14ºC (57.2ºF) during the winter months but still remaining more than tolerable for a swim!

If you want to avoid the peak summer crowds of July and August, May/June and September/October are an ideal time to visit the island. The weather is great, not to hot, less windy and less crowded!

How are the waves?

Fuerteventura is considered one of the best places in Europe for good and "still" uncrowded waves, being a very flat island with strong winds and the perfect paradise for Surfers, Wind surfers and Kite surfers.

We have waves all year round! If you are an intermediate/experienced surfer, the best season is from September to April, but there are always safe sheltered spots for beginners even in the peak of winter. Please find more info about Fuerteventura best waves here.

How far from the surfhouse are the nearest surf spots?

Most months of the year you’ll find it hard to surf in Corralejo, because it’s located in a bay protected from winds and swells. This is why we drive our guests to find the best waves on the west coast, usually located between 20 and 45 minutes’ drive from our house. In Winter months there’s sometimes a bigger swell that makes it possible to surf 3 spots in Corralejo within walking distance from our surf house: Bristol, Harbour Wall and Rocky Point.

Are there any rips at your local surf spots?

Every spot has some rips, the sand banks are always changing thus making the rips. But don't worry, you will surf at the safest spots and always under supervision!

What is the best season of the year to catch good waves?

The best time for a surf trip to Fuerteventura is from September to April (advanced surfers) although there are waves all year round. If you are a novice join our surf camp or pick your surf spot carefully as some of the waves are unforgiving, breaking over shallow reefs. Waves to check out are Hierro, The Bubble and El Muelle on the north coast and the less crowded, more remote waves at Punta del Tigre and Playa de Pared in the south west. Please find more info about Fuerteventura's waves here.
